The students not only loved the books and stories she shared, but they also had many opportunities to participate and be part of the experience. One of our older students read aloud one of Cindy’s books, while a group of 10 students dressed in costume and helped bring the story to life. There was such a sense of magic and whimsy in the air throughout the presentation.
After the readings and storybook theatre wrapped up, all of our Grade 2–5 students, along with several Kindergarten and Grade 1 students, stayed for a question-and-answer session with Cindy. It was a wonderful opportunity for them to learn more about what it’s like to become a published author, what inspires her stories, and the writing process itself.
At our school, we give students a book at the end of each year, and it spoke volumes that after Cindy’s visit, so many students were hoping to receive one of her books as their year-end gift!”
